Default 1997 Camaro nose emblem question

Hey guys. Just recently purchased a 1997 30th anniversary RS convertible. We noticed that the nose emblem is missing, maybe...?

I say maybe because someone, at some point, had some pin striping on the car that you can VERY faintly see if you get up close and personal. Doesn't even show in pictures. I reference this because where the nose emblem is supposed to be, there isn't one. It doesn't even appear to have ever been there. There is no faint square where it was, like the striping.

So, I did a lot of searching online and I cannot find out if the emblems were an option delete, or if one of the previous owners removed them. There is also no Camaro RS emblem on the rear. The car really only has the RS on the front fenders and nothing else.

Was this an option? Or did someone remove them early enough to not leave a mark? Thanks!

I dont know of a delete option but I am sure dealer would remove if buyer wanted it done.

Thanks Craby! I noticed on some pictures on Google the emblem will sometimes look like it's embedded in the bumper and other times it's just on-top of it. Does this change from year to year?

Both of these emblems look recessed a bit to me. If I removed them, I would expect a small detent of that shape. Is that the case or is it just the image that looks like that?

I believe that is correct.

May have an aftermarket bumper cover. Aftermarket covers are not allowed to be exactly like oem. So they sacrificed the emblem indent.
Or so I have been told.
My oem cover had indent the replacement did not.

Thanks so much! The Carfax shows no damage, accidents etc reported, but it does have 130k miles on it. So who knows it's history done by previous owners. But thanks for this information, it may very well be the case for us! As we have no indent and pictures online were hard to tell.
