hello, i have been looking into buying a rearend off of a Z with disc brakes and putting it on my v6, i searched this topic and found install instructions for converting your drum axle to disc brakes and i was wondering what i would need if i just bought the axle complete?

 

This would be a direct swap and the only item required should be the disc brake proportioning valve. Or you can just swap the brakes which would be easier unless you like the Z's ratio 3:23 or 3:42 and forget it if it is 2:73.

 

yeah my rear end is a 3.23 now and the one i have found for 150$ is a 3.42, and has 56000 miles on it, i just put a new engine in my car and i figured why not put a "slightly" more fresh rear end in it wth taller gears and disc brakes because my stock rear has 144000 miles, where can i get the proportioning valve? should i ask the guy to pull it off the Z im getting the rear end or is it after market special for swaps?

 

Yes, if you can or buy another one new. Also check to see if the parking brake cables are the same to be on the safe side.
