Default This worth 1000 bucks? 97 5speed 3.8

My buddy is wanting a new vehicle and is selling his camaro. Its a 97 5speed 3.8. Only things I can think wrong with it is his anti-freeze is kinda soupy/chucky and the back right area, when ever you go over a bump it makes a loud noise kinda like a mount is broke or something. Hes wanting 1000 bucks for it and he said I can do payments on it if I wanted to. Its got around 130-140k miles on it and no motor noises, knocks, or ticks and the tranny works good. No rust or dents in the body, it has one scratch on the hood from someone keying it.

Would you guys buy it? I'm thinking about pickin it up.

I think you meant it's not V8, lol.

The 3.8 is a great little Engine. I loved my 2002 Camaro with the 5 speed. It's nothing you can "race" in or anything, but there were many civics and rice burners that I reminded they were still 4 Cyl..... no matter how annoying thier Muffler sounded. LOL

That is a very good deal. I bought my camaro 98 camaro for the same amount and it had 180,xxx miles on it. Def have it looked at and find out if the intake gasket was ever replaced that seems to be a trouble spot for the 3.8

Here in TN, it would be a great deal. I picked up a 97 with 117K on it for $500 a few months back but it needs a nose cone, front fender and hood painted. Summer project, hopefully.

I got my 95 for 650 with 198xxx miles and it sounds like the body on urs is better too. I'd pikk it up. Might as well especially if he's willing to take payments. You don't find that every day

I went and drove it today he needs money bad cuz he is buying a truck in the next couple days so he droped the price to 700 cash instead of payments. The motor runs strong and pulls hard idles fine and shifts in every gear.

But when I goose it, it feels like the trans is loose or something cuz the shifter will rise up about 1-2 inches and when i let off it will drop back to normal and you can feel something around the trans area.

Other than that it ran perfect everythign works on it. It has some dashboard cracks but all in all the car is solid. I think I'm going to pick it up here soon.
