Default Won't Start after Gasket Job

I recently replaced my head gaskets and all others that go along ( 95 3.4 v6) . I tried starting about 6 or 7 times and it would rotate but not fire up. I then noticed I forgot to plug in the electrical connector to one of the fuel injectors. I tried starting about 6 more times and the same thing. I made sure all the wires were connected. I tested the shrader valve to make sure fuel was reaching the rail. I remember that I left it in firing position 4 after tightening rocker arms. Should the crankshaft pulley have the slit running across it face straight up at 12:00? What firing position to start? If the battery is in the upper red zone, could this be the problem? I'm pretty certain I got everything back together right with the correct torque and everything was followed according to the book. Any help/ideas greatly appreciated.

Did you check compressions after replacing the gaskets?

I'm not sure how to check compression. Today however, I found that there is no spark coming out. I took off the boot and plugged a new spark in. There was no spark showing when I cranked it. I'm guessing that I may have damaged a sensor (camshift position?) but have more checking to do.
