wheel bearings

both can make a grinding noise. can also squeal. drive shaft will vibrate and youll feel it at the seat of pants or shifter. wheel bearing/hub can also vibrate and for front bearings should feel it at the steering wheel. failing front wheel bearing can also cause the steering to pull to one side. rear bearings can whine and grind as well and noise can change when cornering.

Does your car have a manual transmission?
Starting in 1998 (your year), V6 models with an automatic trans got a one piece driveshaft.
In 1999, all the V6 models got the one piece shaft.

i would look at the transmission mount or carrier bearing if you have a two piece driveshaft. trans mount is easy if its busted, if carrier is toast pick up a one piece drive shaft from any 86?-02 camaro, it is direct fit
