what are some typical problems
I'm looking to buy a Chevy v6 camaro because some lady decided to pull out in front of my 3000gt and total it, I'm looking to buy a camaro because of all the problems i had with that gt. The research i have done so far tell me nothing of similar problems with this car it seems everybody has different problems. Does this car even have the typical stuff that breaks down? With the 3000gt through research i could tell you exactly what was going to break down almost down to a tee.

For the sake of this post we will say there are 2 types of V6 Camaros. 1993-1995 and 1996-2002.
In my opinion you want the 96 up. The 3800 is one of GMs better motors. It is not uncommon to see 200K with the motor untouched except normal maintenance.
So for the 3800
Motor
#1 Intake gaskets (like most GM cars of the 90s)
#2 Head Gaskets (same as above)
#3 Intake Coolant elbow cracking.
#4 Coil packs and Spark modules (most of the time this is due to running plug wires too long)
#5 Drive Shaft Carriers Bearing
We do not have too much trouble with the bodies on the 96 and up but if the car was equipped with T-tops and they leaks the rear floor board have been known to rot away. In some cases completely rot away. If you are in the snow areas you want to check the rear fender wells. In the bad salt area they tend to rot away.
You should still take the car to a good mechanic and ask him to look it over. He should be able to tell if the car has been well maintained.

Another one i thought of was the fuel pump. Its more of a GM thing. Infact most of the trucks have more problems then I see with the Camaros.
