Default What is a 3800 II capable of?

I'm curious, with an aggressive cam, all new internals, full exhaust, all new ignition system, the works. What could a series 2 push power wise? I'm still trying to figure out what i want to do with it and this is kinda the decision maker. Anyone know? or have any educated guesses?

*warning* i didnt ask if i should get a v8, i know one of you wants to say i should *warning*

With or without power adders?

When you say power adders what did you have in mind exactly? No turbo's or chargers. Nitrous is a favorite of mine but i meant just the engine, no N20 or anything.

With a Bigger throttle body, PCM tune, Injectors, VS cam, CAI, Ported and polished heads, and a pully kit, you could see 280-300 HP.

Please dont call it "NOS" it is nitrous or N2O. You should take some time and think about this. You have no idea what you want and there for it is hard to give you a correct answer. You can build a engine for just about any thing auto X, drag, endurance, road cores, street, etc and depending on what you want will play a huge factor in what your limitations are.

Hmmm i would say more like 220-240 at the wheels.

Ok, fixed previous post, not called "NOS" anymore. I would like to be able to keep up with a stock v8. The cost doesnt really matter, it is a slow project. As for what i want, i want a fast v6 that is streetable without forced induction or Nitrous. Really my only question was what is the engine capable of horsepower wise, carguy and cbr600rx7 pretty much answered my question. I wont be able to keep up with a v8 but can still get a good improvement. Plans are to add forced induction later (turbos are sitting in the closet) but i just wanted to know what i could reach going the "all motor" path.

I call it N.O.S, because thats the brand that I use. NOS is just the way Ricers say it, I agree with CBR, find out what you want, then start from there.

These engines are capable of a lot of power, it's just expensive as heck. I'd say for the most power, n/a, and streetable, I'd build an engine with a swan stroker kit, larger diameter higher compression forged pistons, abbott stage 3 heads, ported intake manifold, FFF longtube headers, a custom grind cam from abbott, and a whole pile of other goodies. But your going to be looking at a massive pile of cash. I'd say you'd hit 300 easy with all this, maybe a bit more. At the wheels is difficult to determine. Also, if you've got the stock 5 speed transmission, say goodby to it. You'll kill it when you hit 270 horse.
