V8 swap in my 94RS questions
Hi im new here. I just bought a 94 RS v6. i really want to turn this car into a project buy putting some sort of V8 into it, Then turbo charging that. what would your choice in motor be considering i would prefer it to be carbeurated. Also i would need the 6 speed trans as well. Will motor mounts line up in any bigger motors? I would prefer the least fabrication as possible and i want a VERY fast drag car. Please help me.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You going to need to fab new motor mounts, new tranny, new computer, new rear end, stiffen up the suspension for the weight of the V8. It's gonna be expensive, it would have been cheaper to start out with a V8 car. Why do you want to go cabeurated and what are you wanting it to do time wise, 12's, 13's?

RE: V8 swap in my 94RS questions
i dont realy want to have to make motor mounts if i dont absoulutely have to. I know ill need the trans, i dont know what kind of computer i would have to run yet tho. I would like carbeurated because im not a fan of all these modern cars being run on all computers and all that i like the full mechanical stuff. and i think it would be much easier than figuring a bunch of other stuff out. Pretty much would a 350 motor just bolt right in? if not can you buy mounts anywhere for that set up? and any idea what trans i could run?

RE: V8 swap in my 94RS questions
There's a lot more involved than your probably think. Buying an LT1 would be the best thing. It's the V8 that the same year model Camaro Z28 is equipped with. Fuel injection is more efficient and is, on the consumer scale, much more easier to understand and work on. An LT1 is a cast iron Chevrolet 350, and it would fit easier than probably any other 350.

ive been working on carbs for years, so carbs are easier for me. Will the LT1 with a carb be a set up that i could run and have a great performance boost with? also what kind of trans to use? i hear a siz speed but what exactly is it. Thanks alot for the help i really need it.

RE: V8 swap in my 94RS questions
Very well. And no, an LT1 is designed for fuel injection. I have no idea how you would convert the system, given that the computer is solely designed for a fuel injected powerplant. Either way, don't let anyone discourage you. Just know that a carbeurated engine would be a massive retrofit project. Almost everything would need to be removed and reconfigured. The transmission you would want would directly refer to the engine you select. You need one that is rated for the horsepower, and a clutch to match. A good choice for an LT1 is a T56 transmission.

RE: V8 swap in my 94RS questions
ninetysixyenko has a point. RS Camaros are harder to find, especially those made in 1998. Anyhow, I honestly believe an LT1 would fit without having to fabricate engine mounts (don't hold me to it). As I said, you're looking to carbeurate the engine, and an LT1 and it's computer simply aren't designed for such an intake and fuel delivery system.
