Exclamation V6 Whisper Lid Available Again!

Just found it, looks like the same design as Whisper Motorsports, 98-02 V6:
http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-a...1998-2002.html

Get them b4 they're gone folks! They ARE hard to find!

Note there are two different designs for '98, and then '99-'02:

Wow. $250 for that? It's so much cheaper to buy a piece of tubing from Lowes for $10 and take a Dremel to the exisiting box. Same thing. Only costs $10.

Tubing is only required on some cars, not my '02, but hacking the existing lid will not give you as much airflow as this one -- NOT the same thing... Of course, mine was a display model, so I got it for less than that.

Yep. Kind of a waste of money imo. I'll just chop mine up, may not look as pretty, but the car has silver stripes, unfortunately, so nothing I do can make it look worse.

I don't understand what the difference is. I cut out some of the inside plastic pieces of my lid. The baffles were removed. There's direct, uninterrupted air flow from the tb to the air box lid through the tubing. I don't see how it's required on some cars. It's the same thing that Whisper offers, but only costs $10 or so. Plus those lids are ugly. That text with '3800II' is def not my style. Glad I didn't waste money.

^ Of course nobody here cares about your "style" or lack thereof, they care about PERFORMANCE -- which is what you get with this part.

Then again, this is a PUBLIC forum, where opinions are expressed. So it's kind of wrong to say no one cars about her style.

I will take performance over her "style" any day, but you might like the restrictive factory lid -- might be more your "style"...

Wow, what is it with guys being such ****s lately? Seriously? My lid looks exactly like the Whisper lid, except it's that what, 3/4" shorter or something? I can't tell exactly from the pic a good accurate measurement. That little bit of difference is not going to boost performance by even one HP. I have the exact set up on my car. I'm not dumb enough to waste $200+ on something I can make at home for $10 and perform the exact same way. That 3/4"-1" difference does not make a difference in HP gain. I stated I didn't like how the Whisper lid looked, big deal. What you said was very uncalled for. If someone wants to blow $250 for the Whisper set up they are entitled to do that, but I wanted to make it known there was a way of getting basically the exact same thing with a little creativity and for around $10. I don't see how that deserves out-right insults.

^ Maybe you should treat people better in your replies if you expect the same, instead of being rude (multiple times in previous replies), arrogant and name calling.

Anyone still running the factory intake air noise baffle claptrap also has that restrictor of flow -- this lid also eliminates it. See:
http://www.thenebula.com/firebird/whisper/

Perhaps you should check the benchmarks from the magazines on airlids before pretending that you know how this lid performs, since you do not. Talk about what you do not have knowledge about -- that kind of "style" helps nobody. Next time check your facts first.

http://www.camarohomepage.com/project/part4.htm

"we tested the Whisper Motorsports air box lid we installed in Part 3, using a stock air box fitted with a Green Filter as a baseline. Then, we switched to the Whisper Motorsports carbon fiber air box lid with the Green Filter and gained an additional 2-hp at peak power and 5-lb/ft at peak torque."

Keep in mind, the above test did not add the SLP CAI, which only helps even more.

Good thing I only paid $70 shipped for mine from Tbyrne Performance! The original price of these lids was $139.95, but Rick's Camaros probably has the last of the bunch, hence the high price -- Economics 101:
