I have a 97 camaro 3.8 ive done some research and it seems the v6 to v8 conversion is not worth it but i was thinking how about a 350 carberated that would do away with the ecu injectors etc also i would assume the 350 would bolt up to the 4l60e. any inputs appreaciated thanks.

 

As long as you cut away the cowl for clearance and don't mind the distributer stick up thru the dash it will fit. The problem will be the computer. Since it is connected to almost every system in the car (including your tranny) you can not just cut the harness and throw it away. Oh and you would need a new tranny anyway. Bolt patterns are different. I have seen a few do it for race cars. You will still need the frame form the V-8,

 

This is why I bought a Z28. I always liked the 3800 II engines, everyone says they're bulletproof. But after doing a lotta research, I figured if I ever wanted to go V8, I'd either have to sell it, or buy the whole V8 donor car at a really cheap price so it'd be worth it. And unless you're doing everything by yourself and you know what you're doing, it's not really worth the labor costs.

 

if you dont use the engine harness and just use the trany and chassis harness i am thinking it should work ?

 

OBD2 computer system controls the tranny shift points. How will it know when to shift if there is not engine input? When it comes to the OBD2 system is is a mistake to concide the car as have different systems. They are all connected now. Also the transmission will not bolt to the motor
