V6 Performance Questions
Well, I am thinking of spicing up my new Camaro.. Its a '97 Camaro, 3.8L.. Today I picked up a stock SS catback system for it for $100..... New cond.. Figured that was a good deal and by far better looks in the rear.. Don't know what sound advantage it will give, but will soon find out..
I ordered a set of 3.73's for the rear... After that I figure a CAI and a chip.. Looking for an SS hood for it as well, but thats a bit harder to find... Any tips or tricks that I have missed??? Is there a shift kit for these trannys??
What chip would you all recomend?? Whats a good source?
Any info is apprectiated...

Get an Ultra Z hood instead, it works BETTER than an SS hood, don't make it look like an impostor. If you want an SS, buy an SS. You will also need the air intake assembly for that hood...
'97 is different from the '98-'02 design.

I'm kinda partial to the SS hood. It's lines work great with the early 4th-gens. You can't chip your 3.8, but you can contact places like pcmforless and have them ship you a programmed pcm. However, that's not going to yield you too much until you do a few more mods like the CAI you mentioned. You're in the right direction with the gear change, though. That should change the attitude of the car on take off.
The car looks nice. You'll really enjoy it.

You will need to get the car "tuned" not a "chip"
The 97's exhaust manifold are restrictive. A set of headers would make a a differents. Once you have all your mods done take it to get tuned or do a mail order tune. You will need to do that to fix the speedometer for your new gears anyway.
