Default V6 3800 Intake Systems

Hey guys, first things first. Just registered on the forums, glad to meet all of you

Anyway, down to business.
I've slapped on a nice Magnaflow full pipping exhaust kit on my Camaro, and I also ordered some new headers from PaceSetter Headers for about $250. Now, I'm pondering what else can I do for my car? I've looked online, found a couple of intakes, but most are cold air intakes, which in my opinion are useless to me (winter is around 85 degrees where I live>.&lt, and they were also in the $500 price range. What else is there that can offer me a cheap alternative to an intake? Or anything else, for that matter?

Quick question, whats a CAI? Yes, I'm a dumbass when it comes to things like this. I'll learn though, I swear! Also, links would be greatly appreciated man, if it isn't too much trouble.

EDIT:

An air filter for $55? Isn't it better to just chip in a couple more bucks and get a K&N Air Filter?

What you want to avoid is for the engine to inhale the hot air inside the engine compartment which is usually at engine temp and therefore less dense than outside air. The CAI allows the engine to suck in air from outside the engine compartment which is considerably cooler and therefore denser. This will give the engine a good boost in power regardless of outside air temp. Under hood temp is at least 100-150 degree hotter than outside temp.

K&N makes a really nice CAI (cold air intake)

http://www.knfilters.com/search/hp_search.aspx

Just select your engin size. With the K&N setup you get 18.29 hp @ 5331 it says.

Pete is right about the intake. You want to get that filter as far from the engine as possible. On my 97 Celica GT, I had it rigged up to sit right in the front left foglight spot.

Exhaust and Intake are the quickets, easiest ways to get the extra horses. However, my personal favorite is a supercharger. There are general 3.8 (3800 series II) chargers that can be put on. And before '02 they made chargers specifically for the 3.8 cam/firebird. From the research I've done, at least, that's what I'm under the impression of. The gmc 3800 charger (also found on grand prix gtp and bonnevilles) is relatively cheaper than the late 90's early 00's camaro chargers. As far as I know the charger gives you 40hp, the pulley you should buy with it is another 30 or something like that. The best intakes will give you 18 like above stated. Exhaust could give you anywhere from 30-50ish and pretty soon you're competing with stock V8s but you're quite a bit lighter. Can anyone say sleeper?

Thats great and all, but the problem is I can't find any of the parts. I've looked on Ebay, I've asked on these forums and others, I've even googled it. I can't find anything, which is the reason why I posted on here. If it wouldn't be too much trouble dude, think you can send or post me some links please?

You are not going to find a GM supercharger specific for a V6 camaro as none were made. You could adapt one from GTP, once you figure out the acessory drive. However; it shouldn't be too bad as the Camaro has loads of space in front of the engine compared to the GTP. The fuel injection will have to be upgraded, and the computer updated. You may want to search the salvage yards for a crashed GTP and buy the entire engine assembly. Of course, you could always drop in the turbocharged Buick Grand Nantional setup and wind up with a low 12 second car.

Try this site for a centrifugal supercharger http://members.***.net/blownv6/framecamaro.html

Ah I see. Scratch the supercharger / turbo idea right now, since I have no time to work on projects like that, being a college student and all. Anyway, I'm thinking of just getting a new K&N Air Filter for like $55, and all I need now is a CAI that doesn't cost me $350. Any suggestions there? By the way, thanks for all the input so far guys, I really appreciate it

EDIT: English doesn't like me.

Here's where I plan on buying most of my stuff:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/V...012917/c-10114

Here's the Supercharger I'm ordering:
http://www.superchargersonline.com/p...=RK-010910-287

Of course this is all "on paper", when it comes to installation, it may need modding but you just have to have enough money and know the right people, I guess. "On Paper" my V6 Camaro should be pushing slightly over 300 hp when I'm finished. Complete exhaust system, CAI, and S/C are all I have planned right now - besides the rims and tires I ordered last week. The 3.8 can be bad assed if you make enough money to drop into it. I can't wait to see people's faces when they look at my bumper and there isn't an SS or Z28 logo, but they still get spanked.
