Underdrive pulley question

Underdrive pulley question
Ok, so a while ago i got an underdrive pulley set(alternator/crank shaft only) and it said that the alt charge would be low and that was normal. Time went by and the low charge caused my alternator to go bad. So i got a new alternator(ouch) and i put the stock pullies back on. So my question is this, if i change the crankshaft pulley, but keep the alt pulley the same, will it still drain my alt? And if it wont drain the alt, will i see any performance gains?

I agree, the small performance gain isn't worth the effort and loss in charging. Not to mention the initial expense, and the extra money it ended up costing you.
Sell the underdrive pulleys on ebay, I'm sure some sucker out there will buy into the "awesome h.p. gain" hype.

With pulleys though there's more to it than just the pulley. A bad tensioner pulley, bad power steering pump, bad AC compressor can all cause a drain on the engine and alternator.
@Camaro 69, no Caravan can blow the doors off my 95! lol! Not after all that's been done to it.

I was at a tire store years ago, getting new rubbers put on my old 94. The guy who road tested the car, also had a stock 94 but with a manual trans. All I had on mine was a CAI and a Z28 exhaust. He commented on how mine was such a dog compared to his, so he took me for a ride. I was blown away by the big difference in acceleration between the two. It wasn't too long after that when I did a V6 to V8 conversion....sold the 94 and bought a 96 Z28.
