UK spec headlamps

RE: UK spec headlamps
My problem is that over here in the UK the requirement is that all headlamps fitted to imported cars must comply with the Left Hand rule of the road to comply with Goverment regs.
My car does not have these and each year when it comes to testing time I have to fit unsightly beam deflectors.
I would prefer to keep within the legislation but I am not going to spoil the car with these things on a permanent basis.
I used to own a previous Jap vehicle (sorry) that would allow slight adjustment of the headlights to comply with continental driving and so I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the headlights on this car.

I guess the problem is that most of us live in in the US, and aren't familiar with the rules in the uk. Can you describe more in detail about the headlight rule, I'm not sure I understand. Is one supposed to be less bright than the other?

Here in the Uk, as we are odd people with odd rules we have to have headlights that when in dipped beam mode deflect the beam 15 degrees to the Left hand side in order to keep the verge illuminated and also so that the oncoming trafic is not blinded....well I think that this is the reason anyway.

If you are really interested look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driving..._left_or_rightsection 9.2.
This gives reasons...apparently yours do it too...to the right though.
