Default transmission swap-info needed

Im planning on swapping an automatic transmission with a manual tranny in my 97 RS. Ive heard that the manual transmission is bigger than the auto and that i might encounter problems. if anyone has any info from personal experience it would greatly be appreciated

That sounds backwards. The floor for the manual is different. to do a nice job you should weld in the floor right around the shifter. It has a hump to mount your shifter booth to. What is your plan for the computer? Your computer is hooked to your automatic. You do know you need a T5 from a Camaro? Do you have a doner car. Your going to need a lot of parts.

OK do i need to weld the floor around the shifter tho? And i don't have a doner car. i still need to find one. And cant i just hook the computer up to the manual tranny? and a T5 is the only transmission that will work wit that type of application?

No, I said if you want to do a nice job you need to weld it up. You could use epoxy or you could just figure out another way to keep junk and gases from coming into the car.

No there is nothing to plug to. The computer will know it is not pluged into anything and will set a check engine light. The computer controls the shifting in the automatic trans.

Not just a T5 but a T5 from a Camaro. A T5 from a mustang or even a S10 will not work right.
