transmission grinding

Default transmission grinding

i have a stock 5-speed and it often almost more then not these days grinds wen i put it into reverse not any other gearjust reverse any ideas of wat i can do to get it to stop?

i have a s-10 with a 5 speed that had a grinding problem when i took it 2 a transmission shop 2 be fix the tech told me if i would have kept a better eye on my fluild level i would not had 2 have the tanny rebuild---check ur fluid level

My 94 is touchy when trying to put it in reverse.. I think it's just like a buddy of mine that owns a 84 vette with the doug nash 4+3 transmission said, its just an early 90's problem of GM. I think if you let the clutch out a tiny bit rather than pushing it to the floor it tends to help with getting into reverse easier

THe synchros are waring down. That could be caused by a number of reasons such as low fluid or improper shifting or even wrong fluid.

Mine would do the same thing.

But what you can do is shift into 5th then go into reverse. Works everytime and no grinding!

Trere is no syncro in reverse. The grinding is because the clutch is not being completely released. The low fluid will cause this every time.

im havin the same problem. but from what ive looked at there's no where to check the fluid level.

wait so if it does not grind in any other gear but it grinds in reverse its the clutch fluid?

Remember it's the only gear not syncronized so it would show up there first. It may not be low but it may need bleeding ( air in the system ).
