This is my first time posting. I need to change the transmission fluid in my 2002 z28 MANUAL transmission. I've gone to numerous auto parts stores and their computer reccommends AUTOMATIC transmission fluid. Why is this?

 

Strange as it sounds, that's what the manual transmission calls for. I think it has to do with the auto trans fluid being thinner giving the engine better gas mileage, the viscosity doesn't break down as easily as regular gear oil, and it has better anti-foaming properties.

 

Mine's run fine on it for the last 3 days!...Used Castrol brand. You'll need a pump to get it in the filler hole. $20.
