the fluidis like brown and hasa burnt smell. i took it to aamco and they did not recommend changing it due to possible trans failure afterwards

Talk with someone else about the fluid/trans... There may be aditives to help out.like Lucas oil..Make sure that there is the proper amount of fluid in the trans, low levels of it will cause the trans to heat up & burn and that is not a good thing.

Call around to other trans shops, or ask some of the guys that work at the parts stores. I know when you call the shops they will give you that you'll have to bring it in answer, but it doesnt hurt to try. i'm sure there is some one here that knows trans, just have to wait till they read the thread....i'm not tellin ya what to do, but when my fluid is burnt, I dump the old fluid /add new and toss in some lucas oil trans fix just to be safe.

Brown and burnt smelling is not good. Hell, mine smelled just like that before I lost a few gears.
