i just bought a 1986 camaro with the 2.8 liter fuel injected engine and auto tran. ok 1, the tachometer only says the car is going up to like 2500 rpms max and thats with it floored and i believe it cuz there is a big lack of power, i know a v6 isnt a powerplant but it is hard to even get out into traffic it is soooo slow and i have already done a full tune up on it including air filters, spark plugs and wires, cap and rotor, oil and filter, new tires. also the speedometer freaks out after about 45 it randomly goes past 85 and keeps going but im going like maybe 35 or 40 most, the car is super slow and also has a really hard time starting up, i am mostly an import guy but i like this car jsut need it to run right, so any help is greatly appreciated, oh yea and th eoil pressure gauge when i turn the car on is always wayy maxxed out.

 

i say just buy a whole new gauge cluster and see if that helps

 

maybe your tranny is going out...

 

i have a 2.8 manual. Its not that slow.....but i don't hit my powerban until after(way after) 2500
