There is no really good all purpose tire, so you must decide how you are going to use the car. Such as daily driver, comfort & quiet, long thread life, high speed, road racing/autocross, drag racing, off road driving, snow & ice, etc..
Once you decided on the type of tire, then you need to decide on how much money you want to spend. The best tires cost the most, but are not necessarily the best buy.

Check out www.tirerack.com for tire comparasions and prices. They give you a starting point to buy locally or from them. I have Bought wheels and two sets of tire from them.
