I have a 1994 3.4L V6 Camaro that has a ticking/knocking sound coming from the engine when i am idling and accelerating. Do you guys have any knowledge of what is causing this?

 

Uh...could be a valve or a pushrod...I have no idea

 

I have asked around and mostly people say its a belt, but im not so sure. The ticking sound doesn't affect the overall driving of my car, but its just something thats annoying to hear everytime i'm driving it.

 

A belt? Did you pop the hood while it was running and see if you could hear where its coming from?

 

You need to get down an do some work, open the hood and use your ears and eyes. Get an engine sthetoscope and probe around the engine and get the noise located. Thet are available at most auto parts stores for about $20. Once you pin down the noise we may be able to help.

 

Could be a lifter tick. Have you run your car through water? Ticking can come from almost anywhere so likeZ28Pete said, go ahead and probe around.
