Maybe it is just a noisy lifter -- that's what was suggested about my similar intermittent sound on my '01 SS, which is supposedly no concern, just a little annoying -- be sure you check your oil level regularly also...

could bad gas be a problem?
should I add some seafoam to the tank?
i heard it's like liquid vitamins for your car.

If it was running rough, then yes it may have been bad gas. Seafoam is good. It has a few uses. Fuel system/injector cleaner, or you can suck it up through a vacuum line and clean out the combustion chambers. When used with the vacuum line, it will create quite the smoke show. Well, for a little bit afterwards.

The best method in diagnosing any valvetrain problems is to use a technicians' stethoscope. If you don't have one, using a long, large screwdriver works almost as well. Playing the blade end of the screwdriver on the valve cover, place the handle in your ear. The ticks and noises of the rocker covers are better heard and can help pinpoint which valve assembly may be noisy. Be sure your injectors are simply not the cause of the ticking. The injectors on these cars can get downright noisy and sound just like valvetrain problems. Confirm this by placing the blade of the screwdriver onto the body of all the injectors and listening for a tick loud enough to be heard unaided.

A lifter that has bled down may cause some serious cam damage throughout it's life. Lobes can be chewed down, and trust me, a camshaft job on this car would NOT be a great experience!
