I have a 1996 3.8L v6 also. I have been to hypertechs and jegs website and niether one carries programmers for that year vehicle. Summit does carry a plug in module (#CEI-102018 ' pg. 87 in their recent catalouge) for $90. It plugs into your throttle position sensor and optimizes your engine computer to advance ignition timing and increase air/ fuel delivery when your throttle is above 70% open. I haven't bought one yet. I would rather find a programmer.
