Default T5 trans question

I have a 1998 Camaro V6, and the T5 transmission will longer shift into fifth gear or reverse. There is nothing in the shifter itself broken or blocked, so it must be an internal problem. Does anyone have any idea what it could or has anyone heard of this problem from any one elese before.

Thanks,
Shawn

It does not grind. It seems the gear is gone, but is what weird is it does the same thing for reverse. It doesn't make sense.

Thanks for your help Sick. Now if there is anyone who knows transmissions that could maybe lead me in the right direction, that would be great.

Thanks,
Shawn

It sounds like your synchro bearings might be shot. Check the fluid level, if it was low then it's prolly a bearing.

it could also be a bent shift fork, that is what it sounds like to me, if you cant get it into 5th or reverse both are all the way to the right its most likely shift fork problem. i have a maintenance manual for the t-5 in pdf format if it will help you. let me know a e-mail address to send it to.
