T-5 Questions
Hello,
I don't own a Camaro but I own a vehicle with a T-5 transmission, and I figured you guys would know lots about them.
I have a 1994 GMC Sonoma with the T-5. there is a 4 cylinder in the truck.
I'm wondering whats involved with a camaro bellhousing swap? My truck needs a clutch apparently (thats what the previous owner said), and I haven't really looked at the trans. I haven't driven it as it is my project truck and I've been workin at it, and I don't have my license yet. I want to get rid of the four cylinder. How much power can the T-5 handle, and how much torque? I was considering a 283 or 305 but I was told that I'd break the T-5 with those engines... hmm..

i think you would be ok with a stock 305 but if your planning onupping the horsepower in it you have 2 options. 1 beef up the t-5 internals, or 2 get a new trans. but the bellhousign you can use an f-body v8 bellhousing or i think the safari/astro vans have a 4.3 bell housing that can be used on this application...
