Default swapping for a v8

I have a 2000 v6 3.8L engine in my car right now. I want to swap the engine for a v8 5.7L. Does anyone no where i can find one? and is it that hard to do it yourself?

if i were u i would check out crateenginedepot.com but idk as far as the swap goes i would prob. just sell the car u got and get one the same year rangez28 r ss cause swappin out the comp. and stuff getsexpensive and frustrating esepecially if u've never done it or don't have the right tools, not to mention how little room and how far back the engines sit in the 4th gens, making them harder to do anything with r pull out.... don't get me wrong its possible but anything is possible for the right amount of money and work

Yes. It's hard to do yourself in a do-it-yourselfer approach. The engine comes out from the bottom. You'd more than likely need a lift, among other things. A new LS1 would be ridiculously expensive for your application, and the components it would require would be huge. You'd have to get into assembling the wiring harness (given you don't purchase an LS1 harness priced around $500), and buy a different PCM. Really, I'd sell the V6, put forth a little extra, and enjoy a fine Z28 or SS. This is a project that qoudl require a lot of downtime and a lot of $$$.
