This is my guide on how to modify your 3.8 V6 F-body. Whether you just want a few extra ponies out of your daily driver, or a full-blown racecar running 10s, I will cover everything. I have broken this into many sections.

Intake
First thing I will cover is the Intake. It is probably the first mod you should do to any car seeking more power or better gas mileage. An intake will feed more air into your engine and create more power and even give you better gas mileage.
If your have a 95-97 3800, you will want to buy a new intake. There are several different options, to fit any budget. You can find these intakes on several sites, including K&N and Ebay. It is a debated subject on whether or not ebay intakes are any good. But as long as you have a strait smooth intake, sending cold air to your throttle body it is good. You can buy a cheap ebay intake and attach a K&N cone air filter and have a decent set-up.

The 98-02 Camaros have a very different intake system than their 93-97 counter parts. They actually have a very good intake system that does not need to be replaced. However, there are a few modifications you can do to get a few more ponies out of them. The air lid can be replaced for a whisper lid or you can remove the baffles from the top of the lid yourself. Removing the baffles will let more air through, however the whisper lid is still a better set up as it has still allows more airflow. You should also replace your paper air filter for a K&N air filter. Something you may want to consider doing is removing the silencer from your intake. It is the big plastic bubble like object that sits behind the air lid. Replacing it is not necessary, however it will provide better airflow. You would have to replace the silencer with a custom setup. Usually people use PVC pipe or any tubing that will fit.

Another modification you can make to the intake is a “ram air” setup to get more, cold air to the air box. SLP makes a setup for the f-body that fits in front of the top of the radiator and forces cold air into the bottom of the air box. They sell it for about $140, however, if you are the “do it your selfer” you may want to consider making your own. You will need just plain sheet aluminum. Links are provided bellow for both.
