Default Sterio lights went out

Ive had this problem for about 5 months now and i have never had any luck in finding out how i can fix this. The only lights that work are the ones for the volume and power. I have a 2000 stock Monsoon sterio. Or does anyone know where i can find a replacement?

did you take it apart to see if everything was plugged in at the back of the head unit? i'm assuming you have; it was pretty easy for me to do, the black exterior trim around the stereo/ vents just pops off easily and theres two screws holding the stereo unit up and you can just pull it out; mine doesnt have much room to work with...i don't think i was even able to pull it all the way out of the dash with the wires connected; but if that doesnt help then...

there's this one off of a 99 camaro on ebay, still got a couple of days on it for auction:

the lights are completly out and the sterio is cutting out, so i will most likely throw it away.

Chevman00....you said that your stereo was cutting out as well as your lights not working. When youreplaced the stereo did it stop cutting out?I have a 2000 'maro with a monsoon system too, and I've been having the same problems as you (no lights and the stereo cutting out) except mines been doing it for close to a year now probably. I've had it looked at, and I've pulled every wire I can trying to find a short or something, but I can't find anything wrong with it. I tried replacing the stereo once too, but that didn't help either (I may have just gotten another bum stereo). But any info you can give me would be great. And when your stereo cuts out, do your power windows still work? When my stereo was cutting off, so were my windows! Yeah, it's got me pulling my hair out.

Im assuming you already checked the fuses. That was the first thing i did. Another thing could be the battery. Sometimes that is a cause ive noticed too. When i replaced mine everything was fixed, and no, my power windows never gave me any trouble. It could be that you got another bad sterio. Where did you get it from? Oh and have you taken this to a chevy dealership? They could fix it for you probably.

Yeah, the fuses were fine, but I still replaced them. I actually did take it to the GM dealer and they charged me 400 bucks to fix it, and they didn't. They didn't know what it was either and gave me my money back. I got the other stereo from a 2000 maro that had been wrecked (rear end damage), and the guy assured me that it was in perfect working condition. Well, that didn't fix the problem either, so he gave me my money back as well. You said that it might be the battery? The battery is charging just fine, but it is a few years old. Do you think if I replaced the battery this would fix my problem? I'm not too concerned with the lights, I just want the radio and windows fixed. Thanks for the help

You know, im not 100% sure, ive heard of people changing the battery and it fixing the problem. I dont want you to go out and spend money on a battery when it might not be the solution.
