Starting problem
Hi there,
I have kind of odd problem. My 3.4L acts strange when the engine is warm and the temparature outside is above say 50 degrees. When I turn the key and attempt to engage the starter it does nothing. I back the key out of the start positions for 3 seconds and attempt it again and it'll turn over just fine. Sometimes I have to try the back out and engage routine a couple times before it fires. This only happens when the engine is warm from either just running a few minutes ago(I.E.) going into a store and coming back out. Or if it's been sitting on super hot black top. It's an electrical issue that's triggered by heat somehow. Now when this happens the gauges are all alive and the interior blower will run just fine. I've found that if I turn off the radio and the blower that I have better luck starting the engine. The battery itself is brand new and fully charged. So it's not a matter of a weak battery, however it's possible that it has not so hot wiring further down the line somewhere. Only the starter seems to be effected. Is it the starter itself? Or is it something else that would cause the starter to be totally dead and then after a couple tries suddenly fire up? How/what should I check? I appreciate any advice.
Thanks,
Tom

if its triggered by heat the only thing i can imainge is the metal in the wireing expanding and making a connection weaker somhow thats the only reason i can think of heat having an effect
