Starting Issues

Hi all,
I have a problem with cold start up. I have a 1998 Camaro 3.8l V6. Ever since i upgraded the exhausts I have been having starting issues.
I upgraded to a flowmaster American thunder dual exhaust system:

Everytime i start the car from cold, it takes about 10 seconds of turning over before it fires, then once it does fire, it chugs and chugs for about 15 seconds. Following the chugging, it levels itself out but throws clouds of blue smoke out of the exhausts and has a very bad smell of gas!! If i try to rev the engine to clear the chugging, it feels very rough and to be honest just makes it worse. I no longer touch the gas when starting the car!
Literally, 20 seconds after starting, everything is running fine, the car sounds, feels and runs great. But startup is pretty worrying at the moment. It just doesnt sound healthy or feel healthy.
Any ideas on what could be the problem? Should i have re-tuned or re-mapped the engine after having the exhaust fitted? Would a cold air intake or better air induction help?
The car has notoriously been a bad starter, never firing immediately, but ever since the exhaust went on, its got worse.
Any help anyone can give is appreciated!!!!

Considering the problem started after messing with the exhaust, you should go back and revisit the job. Some wires may have been broken or dislodged, plug wire burnt, etc. The engine requires more spark energy at start up, so anything marginal will act up at that time, and clear out once the engine has been running for a while.

Thanks Pete,
So youre suggesting i have a look at the wiring related to the ignition system? i.e plug wires, ignition wiring etc?
I fitted the exhaust myself and do not remember seeing any wires anywhere around where i was fitting the exhaust?
Sorry if im being dense here, but im not sure which wires youre talking about!
thanks for your help
