Default So many questions...

So, I've decided to play with my sixxer a bit over summer instead of going for a z28/TA.
Mainly insurance/parents criticism.
ANYWAY...

I'm not going into anything major, I will mildly mod her out until graduation day where I can ask for a z28 or something

My plans are:

Stall. What/where should I be looking for?
Aluminum Driveshaft. Junkyard it?
3.73 or 4.10's I've heard I need a series 3 carrier, can anyone confirm? I have the 3.08's with an open differential, I believe.

Headers/mid-pipe/cat-back.
I would like to duplicate this set up. http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums...ad.php?t=35389
Does an H-pipe require true duals? If so, is there a special set of headers only compatible with this set up?

And finally, a cam.
I'm still looking around for a good NA cam, but I guess it would depend on my headers so I don't over-cam, correct?

Sorry for the laundry list of questions.
If anyone can answer anything for me, its greatly appreciated!

Stall - If you're gonna drive it daily... I'd say no more than 3k...

Driveshaft - Got mine from junkyard ^_^

Gears - No idea

Headers etc - Pacesetter is the only maker of headers and an H pipe is for a true duals set up.

Cam - Most aftermarket cams are made with stock replacement in mind. And the fact that they only make 1 set of headers for a 3800 Series II :P So i wouldn't worry about the headers as much as the other supporting mods

Help you any?

dont go any bigger than 3.73 for gears, you wont be making enough power to need 4:10, and plus your car will not be getting as good gas milage, and youll have to adjust your speedo

get 4.10's for gears i have had them in previous cars and loved them. Mileage will be affected by about 1-2 mpg. And no matter what gears you get your going to have to recalibrate your speedo.

Also forget the exhaust for now as you will get much more bang for your buck elsewhere. Start with the gears and posi, then the cam and ported and polished heads and intakes, then a tune.

If you are swapping thecam it would be dumb to not get a set of ported and polished heads and intakes to compliment it and maximize your gains. check out www.freewebs.com/harrisonporting all the prices are for work on mustangs, but they are pretty much the same prices for camaro's as well.

Thanks for the help guys, as for gears, I'm really not worried about it hurting my mileage, I do mostly city driving...and my right foot already kills it.
Only reason I wasn't sure on 4.10's was that I would run out of gear quickly with the A4.
3.73's still going to be giving me a big kick in the seat?
What about the series 3 carrier deal?

I've seem cheaper cams than that, not sure where, but I saw one back when I was planning a 3.8 build for a bonneville.

WHoever said forget exhaust needs to go back to school... THe exhaust is one of the most restrictive parts of an engine... An engine is designed to suck air in, mix it with fuel, burn it, and blow the exhaust out. The faster it can do this, the more capable it is in terms of power. And once you start getting cams and headers and things like that... Their gains will be massively hindered by a stock exhaust on the V6... Especially headers...

So... DO worry about the exhaust. It's the first step to better flow and it's somewhat cheap if you know how to get the parts. Not a bad investment. And most people gain about 7-12 hp with a catback exhaust lol...
