Default So i'm Thinking Rs..

So i'm thinking on getting a 4th gen 3.8 RS. I've done hours on websites to learn about the motor of an RS. I wish i would find a z28 (who dosent?) but wit the cash i get to find a car isnt in the z28 range. My brother has a 96 green RS with full exaust back (flowmaster) and cold air intake, baisic mods. It's a quick car up to 100MPH. I think he should get new headers for the HP invasment. I was a DSM lover for about 2 years, then i thought and thought and i knew i wouldnt have the moeny or time to work on the DSM motors. So i decide to go to the camaro. Any cars you guys think i should be looking into? z28? Rs?

Thank you.

Are you looking at the 93'-97' RS or the 98'-02' one? If you go for the 3.8 good choice . It is a decent and reliable engine. If you can afford insurance and the price of a LT1 or LS1 I would say to go for it. I've been lucky enough to have a dad that owned a LT1 Firebird, owns two LS1 Corvettes, and where my brother and I have 3.8 Camaros. Which ever route you go hopefully you won't regret it... I know I haven't. Good luck with the car search.

yeahgo with the 3.8 engine is very reliable and strong. There is a guy on a diff. forum who just supercharged his engine with 135,XXX miles and still running strong.I wouldn't buy a 3.4 though just not enough power in my opinion. Like the Banks said If you can afford it I would go with and LS1 or LT1.

Yea 3.4's are slow but faster then the mustangs of the same year (sn95 3.8 mustangs) which is all that matters

there was no 3.4RS was there? first RS was in 96, and thats when the 3800 came out, only diff between RS and base model is the trim. and yes, 3800 is a pretty beasty motor. 200-205HP, 215-225TQ, and can roast any import 200HP car(ex: turbo eclipse/talon). but for the price, you can most likely find a LT1 for about 1000-1500 more. LT1 = 93-97.
