Exclamation simple question

i looked in my haynes manual cuz i need to replace a bearing in my rear-end (passenger side). Now i didnt see a wheel bearing anywhere in the book but i did see a axle bearing.
are they the same?
is it necessary to take the diff. cover off and take the c clip out to slide the axel out to get to the bearing?
