Security Light

that could be because of the little resistor in the key. it may be dirty. try spraying some brake parts cleaner or any other cleaner on it and rub it off. while you at it, spray the whole key down so its nice and clean. then try it.

If you try to start it and it doesn't work, giving you the security light, you'll have to wait 10 or 15 minutes until you try again. It has a time barrier that won't let you start it, even if you had a brand new, perfectly fine key with resistor. It's a good feature, but can be annoying when it's you that's trying to start your own car.

I had that problem a few times when I first bought my 2000 v6. what I found was after about the 3rd time of sitting and waiting for the thing to reset, I got her home and disconnected the battery overnight. hooked everything up in the morning and its been almost a year since it happened.
