So FINALLY I've gotten my car where I can drive it (1995 3.4 RS auto)and I've noticed oil where I park at night, so upon further inspection from a mechanic in the area I have not one but two leaks which are an oil pan gasket and a rear main seal, so I asked him to give me a quote and his quote was $1,500, does this sound correct to you or should I get a second opinion? And if this is correct would it be cheaper for me just to get another engine installed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

you have to lift/ take out the motor to do a oil pan on that car.

This is crap. Surely there is someone that is in this group that lives near you that can help you out. Like all Car affialiated groups I've been in, we've all pitched in to help each other. If it's used parts or a repair, regardless, someone always helps. If I was any bit mechanical, I'd be at your house today helping you fix it.

 

Yeah as far as taking the engine out, thats the reason that he said It was going to cost soo much.
badinfluence- thanks for that, lol now I do believe someone has placed RS badges on my car, what a great way to end this week! Basicly the deal with the car is I traded my 95 s-10 with bad tranny for this car that had damage in the front, so I put 1,000 bucks in parts and 1,100 in just paint. Now I've put about 500 more bucks into this car and I am still having issues. The worst part is that I'm leaving June 25thfor the airforce ( I graduate June 1st) and when I got the car I decided to give it to my sister when I leave so shes getting this car that I have spent all this money in for NOTHING! lol well I guess you could call me a good brother. But I do have plans of buying an LSI as soon as the airforce money starts rolling in! so thanks for the help
