Rough Idle
My 98 Camaro with the 3800 V-6 is all stock.I have taken really good care of her. I am the original owner and shehas 280,000 miles. I have never had a minutes trouble out of her. I got her oil changed last week and as I was leaving I noticed she was idling a little rough. I went ahead and had the spark plugs and wires replaced, cleaned the k&n filter, and replaced the fuel filter and the pcv. There are no codes, but I can tell the idle is not correct. She always cranks and there is no hesitation. Also, I don't know if this is a seperate problem or not, but sometimes when I take the fuel cap off there is a vaccum sound. I replaced the fuel cap but it still happens on occasion. Please help, my husband wants me to get a new car, but I am not ready to give her up.
Definitely try some Lucas Fuel Treatment on a couple tanks of gas -- this has really helped my '95 w/132k+ miles!
Also, maybe some fuel dry treatment -- maybe you have moisture in your fuel system?

Just to let y'all know, the problem was too much oil. When I had my oil changed, they filled it up twice. Luckily it didn't blow any seals. When they drained the excess oil out, she runs perfectly again.
I drive about 100 miles roundtrip per day to work. I have had her since December 1997 and she still runs and looks great. I get compliments all the time. Everyone jokes with me that it is about time to trade her in, but that will never happen. My oldest son wants to make her a race car, but that will never happen either.
