Default Questions on Motor Swap.

Most of the people in here seam very educated in Camaro's. So, I am sick and tired of having an underpowered car. I can win against some ricers but when a decent powered car comes along i get ***** slapped. Can someone tell me how much a Motor swap going from a V6 to an LT1 would cost me? I have a 93' and I have done swaps before, but never changed the size of the engine. Does this swap mean I have to change the suspension? So I would have to but an engine, and tranny, but do I need a new drive shaft, differential, axle's, brakes? How about motor mounts, and wiring. I am just looking for a price, and maybe a list of parts. Thanks.

Default RE: Questions on Motor Swap.

well, you need to figure all the parts and cost

1. LT1&4l60Etrans (good condition under 60,000) around 2 grand for both with the computer.
2. engine harness (wiring) - should come with the motor, but if not will be about 80-150 bucks
3. driveshaft- your v-6 has a 2 peice, you will either need the LT1 or the LS1 shaft -pay no more than 150
4. rear end- not exactly sure what comes in there stock but im sure you will need a bigger one, or at least some wiring/sensors for the speedo

try to look up on some searches "LT1 swap" "camaro v-6 to v-8 swap" ect.

im sure you will need motor mounts and suspention upgrade, but not sure exactly what parts, hope that helps, good luck!
