Question..
A motor mount is a steel and rubber piece (OEM, anyway) that bolts to both the lower part of the engine block and the frame or subframe. It's vital to reduce unwanted vibrations and it helps keep the engine in place. It is possible to break them, and a broken one requires replacing as not to damage any other vital driveline parts. I've never replaced a mount on an F-body, but I'm sure they're all pretty much the same. You have to gently raise the engine so you can access the mount and remove the bolts. Remove the old mount, install the new one, tighten it down, and lower the engine. Be sure it's tight at all points.
Its very simple to replace. All you need is a floor jack, jack stands, 18mm scocket, 15mm socket, 1/2 wrench and socket. Remove the bolt that goes through the mount. 15mm bolt 18mm nut. Then using a block of wood and a floor jack (place the block of wood on the lifting point of the jack) jack the engine up under the oil pan (make sure there is a block of wood between jack and oil pan or you are in for one hell of a mess.) Jack the engine enough to take the stress off the bolt so you can take it out. Then with A 1/2 wrench there are three bolts two on the top and one on the botom remove the bolts(they are threaded into carriage nuts in the frame so dont worry about loosing any nuts.) If you wanna save yourself a lot of time, buy one of those 1/2 gear wrenches. The three bolts are a bi**h to get to due to lack of space. Also to save yourself some effort, loosen up the otherside 15mm bolt so when you put it all back together its easier if you need to line up the new mount with the engine. The remove old mount and and put in new one. I just did mine, the parts are cheep it cost me $9.99. good luck.
