Default Programmer for the v6?

I have a 1998 v6. I really want to use a programmer to increase performance, Do they have one out there? Hypertech makes one for 1998 v8, and then for the 2000-2002 v6, is there a big difference? or can i use the programmer for the 2000 for my 1998?

no the 99-02 use a different computer. TBW is only one of the changes. //////the best way to pull a few more ponies out of your engine is to have a dyno shop hook you up.

Most GM tuners are limited by year and engine. I am not sure why they do this but that is the way they are set up. THere is not cheap way to tune your car. If you find on let us know. Your not going to much out of a tuning a stock setup. 5-10 hp. THe stock tune is pretty good. Once you start the modding the tuning means more.

HP tune
PCMsforless.

Tuning stock isn't worth the price. When they say a gain of 15-30hp that's after cat back and cai has been installed then you tune to get the full potential out of the

2 systems. Like gorn said you'll only see 5-10hp with a bone stock car being tuned. And Like Massey said dyno tuning you'll get even more as it's to your car and not to the general year of engine.

If you already tuned it what do you need? Dyno tune is the best way to tune it. Next would be HP tune and the cheapsest easiest way is to tell PCMsforless what you got and they will mail you a tune. The nice part about PCMsfor less is they use HP tune. You can teak their tune with HP tune. You will pay more money for the HP tune software then the PCMsforless computer.

Well if you have already put in a cam and done some flow work to your heads then you will defidently need a tune. You cant just add new equips to an engine and expect it to run perfectly once you get it back together. Even in a carb engine, once you put a better intake or cam in the car you still need to adjust the throttle setting and timing.
