Possible leaking intake gasket?
I have a 95 camaro that I have owned for a few years. Do not know much about the history of the car. Recently developed a fuel leak which I tracked to an injector. Just removed the fuel rail and found that the injectors that are side by side on both sides of the motor (3.4 liter); have a lot of rust on the bodies. One had pinhole causing fuel leak. These areas show signs of a coolant leak; where coolant has dried. But for coolant to be in this area looks as if it would leak where the plenum mates with the intake lower section. But I did not think coolant flowed into the plenum area. Looking for some help from someone that is more knowledge about this motor. Thanks to all in advance.
dang come on guys, i know the 3.8 has coolant to the intake. i think the 3.4 does but am not sure. as common as failing intake gaskets are on both the motors in may be a good idea to have a look. rent a coolant system pressure tester and see if you can locate it that way. usually get one at most parts stores for deposit only,(get all your money back) they make there money off the parts you get if you find a leak.
Thanks for the input. I had the fuel rail out and was going to tackle this if it may likely be a problem. Decided to put all back together and tear back down if necessary at a later time. After a day of rain; popped open hood to check a few things before firing the motor up and to my surprise, there was water on driver side pocket where the injectors were. Motor had not been started after everything was dried. Upon a closer inspection noticed that this area is just underneath the area where the windshield drains. Believe water may be getting here after a rain. I will be driving car for the next few months and will watch but do not believe it is coolant now believe it may be rain water. Thank you again for your input
