Step one should be check your pressure with a good hand help gage. It is possible that if you ran low oil pressure for a long time your pressure reliel valve got stuck. Possible but very unlikely.
Why replace a sensor if it is reporting right. You could reinstall your old sensor just to see what it gives you.
I installed a low miles 2002 3800 in my my 96. She has reads between 1/2 and 3/4 since day one. She is a little higher on cold mornings and a little lower on really hot day. I would expect the pressure to rise a little if I installed a new pump.
FYI factory gages are known for being inaccurate. That is why they do not put numbers on them.

Gorn, his pressure is fluctuating between 90 psi (3/4 mark) and 105 psi. Is it still safe to assume his pressure switch is reporting right?

I dont normally down talk my competitor's products but with Duralast parts they seem to be of a lower quality than my store's Master brands. If you are a big fan of AZ get their Standard brand or something from BWD. (Neihoff is BWD and just as good). I get quite a few customers in my store that have had bad luck with Duralast parts. Not all AZ parts are crap but it does seem that their store brand stuff is.
