Default oil pressure

Well my coolant leak is fixed and now the oil pressure seems to be high. I changed the oil as usual but this time I used a fram tough guard filter (silver) instead of the regular orange fram that I get. The pressure goes to about the second line from the top and down to about half a idle. Could the filter cause a spike in the pressure? I use castrol high milage 10w/30 oil. Thanks........1SG

the third line is normal and the gauges are not real accurate. the fram filters are not the best and it could have something to do with getting better pressure.

Fram isn't junk. I've tried almost every brand of oil filter and I can tell you there are many filters out there worse than Fram! That being said, check the oil pressure switch. They are not very strong and don't last. Mine became brittle and actually broke when I changed my oil. You can easily hit it accidentally when you change your oil. With a faulty oil pressure switch it'll throw off the guage. The oil pressure switch is plugged into the oil pan.

freeze the sensor in the oil pan is the oil level sensor. oil pressure sensor on the 94 to 97 is at the back of the intake screwed into the block, the 93 is by the oil filter.

I find it strange that the first time I used the tough guard filter my pressure went up, I am thinking of just changing the oil again and use the standard filter........1SG

I have the 3.8 and believe the oil sensor is located right above the oil filter, is this correct........1SG
