Default Oil getting in anti-freeze

I have found oil in my anti-freeze overflow jug. This is a 97 Camaro 3.8. I immediately thought it was head gasket or clylinder head probelms, a local mechanic thinks it is the timing chain cover. Has anybody had the same problem?
