Normally I tell people to try some seafoam and do a Mobil 1 oil change with a good filter. If I was doing it today I would try this stuff. I have never been a fan of additives but I would trust STP more then the others.

Motor Treatment by STP® | Multipurpose Motor Treatment

I like using STP products, but I don't know how a fuel additive like the one above is going to quiet noisy lifters.

I'd say considering the gum and sludge cleaning properties of synthetic oil, using Mobil 1 (my weapon of choice) would be a good thing to do. That's a nasty tick you have, so see how that goes, then add some seafoam later down the road if the noise doesn't subside. I had an engine that had noisy lifters for the first 2-3 minutes after a start, then it would stop. After a Mobil 1 transfusion, the noise went away within a week and never came back. Mine wasn't quite as noisy as yours though, so take that with a grain of salt.

A whole change, assuming you're not using any kind of full synthetic at the moment.

I'd say SeaFoam it first, good oil and good filter. If it's still there, try some Lucas HD oil stabilizer. Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer : Lucas Oil

It makes sense then that if you're using an unstable oil, you need a stabilizer. You can use a good oil with an additive to try and make it "better". Or use an oil that's already better (synthetic), that doesn't need a crutch to make it good.

FYI the STP multipurpose product is not just a fuel additive. If it was it would say so. It is marketed as multipurpose product. Based on the add it is STP answer to Seafoam. It breaks up carbon deposit. Autozone lists it as a Engine oil additive/cleaner.
