im thinkin about tradin my 1991 eagle talon non-turbo for a 1995 camaro with the 3.8l v6. was just wonderin if u guys think that would be a good deal on my part. im also wondering how hard it would be to find a LT1 to swap into it. and how hard would it be to do the swap? any help is appreciated. thanks

I highly doubt anyone on our forums is going to tell you NO! Don't trade your Eagle for a Camaro!

An LT1 swap requires many things besides just the engine. Your best bet would be to find a donor car that has been totaled from the rear.The price on a nice Lt1 runs between 900-1200 with pcm and all. the cheapest lt1 i saw was 450 bucks 120,000 miles no pcm or wire harness.but if i ever decide to do an LT1 swap I think i will make mine a carbed lt1. No need for a computer. You would have to buy a carbed intake manifold of course. Edelbrock makes them Jegs and summit both sell them.
With the Lt1 there is more weight applied to the the springs so you will need to replace the front springs with ones from a z28 or aftermarket ones such as eibach. If you have an auto transmission you dont have to replace the tranny however the 5 speed manual will not hold up to the torque of the lt1. The LT1 has reverse flow coolant path (cools the heads first) so you will also need a 93-97 Z28/trans am radiator and dual cooling fans. Not to mention that you are probably going to want to get the limited slip rear end with the disc brakes from the Z28. So it's not really about how difficult the swap is compared to cash-consuming.
The 3.8 camaro's are far from slow but they are definately not a v8. I think you will be suprised with it's power compared to your 2 liter. I own a 3.4L camaro and it is quick for a six cylinder, but it's no match to a 3.8. The 3.8L has about 35-40 more horsepower than the 3.4. I would trade the talon for the camaro but i think that an LT1 swap would be more expensive than you might have bargained for.

Get rid of that ricer in disguise before the engine goes.
One thing people with the 3.8's don't mention is how well balanced the car is with the 6 up front. The steering is rather netural, not heavywith good turnin. I love to dive undera Honda andoutbreak them.
