Unhappy Need some experienced help here please

96, 3800 series II 5spd.

Problem is it will turn over, but won't always start. it spits ,burps back thru throttle body (ie like an old carb would) an today it back fired out the exhuast.

usually after 10mins or more of trying shes cranks ups. I can then cut her off an she will fire up no problems but if she sits for 30mins or more, it's back to not wanting to start.

then are times she starts no problems.

could it be she needs new plugs?
I'm at loss so far as to what it could be . an don't want to throw money at unneeded stuff.

any ideas guys
?

Did you scan it? Any codes? When is the last time a tune-up was done on this car?

Change your fuel filter could be clogged up.. Can you hear your fuel pump pressure up when you turn your key to on? Listen to see if it turns on before you crank it. If It doesn't it could be a loose or faulty fuse or a bad pump.

Turn the key on and off, and check your fuel pressure at the fuel rail right away to see if it's within specs of your engine. Then check it again in about 15 minutes (without turning the key on). If the pressure dropped drastically, or completely, you might have leaky fuel injector(s) that would be flooding the cylinders. Another possibility is your pressure regulator. If that's bed, it could be allowing too much fuel pressure. The reading at idle should be close to the same as when you primed it, but should go up when you give it some throttle. Pull the vacuum hose off the pressure regulator and see/smell if there is gas in there. If so, it's bad, but no gas in the hose doesn't always mean the regulator is still good.

Wow, you got some issues there.
P0102 - MAF sensor
P0131 - O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 (Low voltage)
P0135 - O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 (Malfunction)
P0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire
P0441 - Emissions system (bad purge valve)
P1350 - Ignition control system / Injection sensor solenoid
P1361 - Ignition coil control circuit low voltage
P1406 - EGR valve

Now, from what I can see you most likely have leaky injectors which is causing too much fuel to go in your cylinders. All your sensors are freaking out because of too much unburned fuel going through the system. Change your injectors and then see if you get any other codes. You'll have to change your spark plugs and possibly your coils.

yes! all makes sense
when your car AFTERBURNS (mistakenly called a "backfire".. a backfire comes out of the intake.. when your car bangs out the exhaust its an afterburn) its caused by unburndt fuel igniting in the exhaust system. so leaky injectors would seem probable. also bad ignition system componets also fuel the fire cuz its letting even more raw fuel into da exhaust.
all those codes go hand in hand
