Default Need help diagnosing low fuel pressure

My 97 Camaro has been having low fuel pressure issues. I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge and it's reading low 40s at idle.
With the key on and engine off, it spikes to 50psi then slowly drops down to 0. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator today and it didn't help any. I'm having random/multiple misfires.
Anyone else had this problem? I'm not seeing any leaks anywhere.

look at 33 here and see if any of it helps. 4th Gen LT1 F-Body Tech Aids 50 is high, low 40s is normal for idle maybe a tad high. you may have a leaky injector. any fuel smell in the engine oil on the dip stick?

I don't recall it smelling like fuel. I'm wondering if it's just the check valve is bad in the fuel pump. I'm thinking if I install an inline check valve I can rule out the fuel pump and it's gotta be injectors.
