It's a 93 3.4, just replaced a leaking radiator, new one was fine for a week and now having problems. Last night I lost about 2 gallons of coolant. When it's parked and running I see can't find any leaks. One heater line is hot, other one isn't. It overheats until I stomp it to 4-5000 rmps, then it returns to normal temp. and heater gets hot again. I'm thinking it's the heater core, water pump, or thermostat. It also had some leak stop in it from the old leaky radiator, any ideas?

 

well, take the thermostat out....its summer, and you wont need it...it sounds to me like the thermostat isnt opening at all. if you remove the thermostat and the issues persists, i would look into a new water pump...but it very easily could be something jammed in your water jacket or heater core..when your rad was going south, did you put alot of stop leak in it?

 

I just bought a 94 camaro. My problem is the heating system. The Temperature doesnt get any warmer than 180. It doesnt leak, it doesnt over heat and I dont smell antifreeze. I changed the thermostate last month. When I turn on the heater all it does is blow out cold air. I live in South Dakota and believe me u need a heater. Can anyone give me some idea what may be wrong with my car.

Thanks for your advise You were right. It was my heater core that was plugged. My heater works great now. Again Thank You. Its been 10 degrees for the highs so I really neewded my heater. Again thanks

I have a 94 Camaro and u gave me the right advise on my heater core now I have another question. I have a 6 banger and my oil presure low when I idle the check gauges signal flashes on my dashboard when my car is idling and my presure is slmost gone. Do u know whast masy be causing this Should I drive my car at all. What can I do to fix this

I have another question for you. You were right when it came to my heater core being plugged. Since then I had it blown out and now it works Thanks.
I have a v6 3.4 when Iam in idling the oil presure is low. The check gauges light flashes on my dashboard. When I drive it the presure is normal. Do you know what may be causing this to happen and how can I fix the problem. Will this hurt my car if I continue to drive it. I had the oil changed last month. They put 5-30 weight oil that is recommended for my car. I dont want to blow my engine up. I have 101miles onit now. Did they put in the right oil or do I need a different weight oil. If so will this help my oil presure? Iam not mechanically inclined so I need all the advise I can get.

 

Install a Prestone flush kit and flush it good and clear -- I had the exact same problem, and this solved your issue for me.

 

So what tricks/tools/technique did you use to unclog your heater core?
