Default My gauge is giving me false information.

Something is wrong with my gauge, I never know how much gas I have. One second it'll show I have a full tank of gas, 5 seconds later it'll move back and forward going crazy and it goes down to empty. It even stays saying empty when I fill it, what could this be? ?

My first guess would be the send unit.

No, when the car is on; it mostly just stays on half a tank for along period of time. It's really weird.

Most gas guages are rather inaccurate anyway, just figure about 200 miles per tank, and then fill all the way up to the fullest it can get. Thats what I do, because I noticed that under half a tank if I brake hard or turn sharp the needle moves around like crazy.

mine does this as well. I hit the gas station at around 125 miles. Kinda a pain in the a$$, but not nearly as much as dropping the tank.

I have heard that the gas tanks are shaped funny, and does not provide an accurate reading. I don't think theres anything you can do about it.
