Here is picture of wire on battery and second one is of the cluster of wires over near the fuses. I think that yellow wire is just an added wire straight wired from the fuse box. Maybe it was the actual wire that powered the alternator when the exciter wire was used? He said either that last alternator wasn't plugged in or it didn't need that wire and exciter wire. Dont know but its still cranking and running.

I'm excited to learn that the fog lights work! I had never tried them. Do you know why the coolant would of been so low just from sitting this long?

Glad to hear it's running.
Sounds like you got a coolant leak. Check your engine oil. Make sure it's not like a milk shake. Could also be from the weather changing. If it's been hot and then cold your coolant could have gone into the overflow contianer.

The oil looks fine. It sat uncranked for about 6 to 7 weeks. We've had freezing weather some nights recently and we've got up near 90 but the car hasn't been running during that time.

Well I tested my 99 Regal out the other day and the car just shut down. I figure it was the battery. So I actually took off the Alternator and they tested it for free at the Orielly auto parts. Yup it was bad. I only did it for a second and the car died. Besides that 3800 Series II has 184,000 miles on it so I dont really care. All I need it for is to get rid of my old engine and rear-end from Neglected...I mean my 97 Camaro going through a midlife crisis..aka looks like a 98, but is a 97.

Thanks for the lesson, I do appreciate that. That also would explain the 55 Crown Vic, the 38 Buick Century, 60 Corvette, 57 and 59 Ford Retractables the man owns. LOL

That mechanic told me that my engine isn't stock. Wonder what was done? lol My husband has swore that my car always acts like it wants to jump away from you when you put it in drive and my sons is not as aggressive. He says it has more power.

need to do a pressure test on the cooling system. could be a leaky hose or radiator.

Your mechanic stuck that yellow wire between the battery cable end and the battery. That's a halfass way of doing it, and could eventually compromise your cable connection. What would be better is to connect that wire at the junction block (where that smaller red battery wire is headed to). You've got a nice spaghetti mess there!

Thats where that wire was when we first got it. The guy unhooked it claiming it was a fan wire that wasn't needed. He's going to redo all those wires.

I put coolant in yesterday and it's held its own. I drove it a while today and it was normal before I left in it so I'll look tomorrow. I'm just trying to convince myself whether that battery is charging or not.

Do you have a test meter? That will settle whether you're charging or if the gauge is funky.
